HOW IT BEGAN
Blue Violet Candles is named after my two best four-legged friends, my dogs Blue and Violet. Blue and Violet spent countless hours by my side as I was developing my recipe for my candles. It pains me to say that we lost Blue in September of last year but her memory will live on in BlueVioletCandles. Blue, you will always be in my heart and will always inspire me!
A few years ago I became obsessed with scented candles. At that time I was dealing with a lot of stress in my life. My mom had previously passed away from early-onset Alzheimer's at age 69 and a few years later my dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. My father's health declined quickly and I spent almost every day by his side at hospitals, rehab centers, and nursing homes. Each day when I got home from the hospital or nursing home I relied on scented candles to unwind, soothe my soul and lift my spirits.
CANDLES ARE THERAPEUTIC
As an escape from the stress in my life, I started making my own soy wax candles. It was very therapeutic for me to be alone, play my music, and create my candles.
I chose to use soy wax for many reasons. The first is that it is the healthier option. Paraffin wax may have a very strong scent throw but the research showed that it may be toxic as it is a byproduct of petroleum crude oil, yuck! Another reason I chose soy wax is besides having a wonderful scent throw it also allows the candle's fragrance to burn with real purity. Paraffin wax candles have a chemical smell that takes away from the true scent of the fragrance oil.
